Chip Phillips
Owner and Agent

Chip moved to Dare County in 1981 and loved his childhood here. After spending four years at UNC Chapel Hill, he came back to Manteo to live. He has worked in contractor sales, building, and banking which all have helped him be the right insurance agent for you. Chip first obtained his insurance license in 2004 and won many accolades as an agent for a large captive insurance agency. In 2010, he left to open Island Insurance Agency where he felt like he could offer better customer service. We are so glad he did!
In his free time, Chip enjoys hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. And of course, cheering on the Tarheels!
Jennifer Phillips

Jennifer grew up in Lincolnton, NC and met husband, Chip at UNC Chapel Hill. Upon graduation, she moved to the Outer Banks and became a 1st grade teacher for Dare County Schools. When children came along, Jennifer became a stay-at-home mom. Ten years later, with kids off to school, she joined husband, Chip in the Insurance office. Her favorite thing to do outside of work is gardening.
Sonya Sikes

Sonya grew up in Williamston, N.C., where she got her start in insurance working part-time at a local agency while in high school. She later took time away from her career to raise her 4 children as a stay-at-home mom, returning to the industry once they started school. In 2017, Sonya and her husband, Brian, made their longtime dream a reality by moving to the Outer Banks. She joined Island Insurance in 2018. When she's not at work, Sonya loves being outdoors spending time in the yard planting flowers or out on the water casting a line.
